 HOUSE OF KEBABS

Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru

When a client demands that he should be able to sell 220 food items in 220 sft of floor area, when Airport authorities demand that it follows a “garden” theme, when the time-lines are just over a week to design and three weeks to execute, the challenges are many. Our answer to these problems was a simple cuboid with a double tapered roof, reminiscent of modest village huts amidst a garden, but here we employed about 200 + black tinted toughened glass panes to clad the structure and pine wood and rubber wood slats to add character to the partitions and claddings outside. The gutter on the roof at the top was made to hold greenery that would drop as creepers below. The black painted exposed metal grid that follows simple metrics and symmetry adds a touch of familiarity to the whole unit as an F&B outlet. The design and execution was wrapped up within a matter of 3 weeks and this still remains one of the best outlets in “the Quad” , Kempegowda International Airport, Bangaluru.
